A Pace of Grace: The Virtues of a Sustainable Life – A Guest Book Summary
My friend, Donna Wheatcroft offers this summary of Linda Kavelin Popov’s book, A Pace of Grace: The Virtues of a Sustainable Life.
Overview:
Fifty years after surviving Bulbar Polio at the age of 11, Linda Kavelin Popov was diagnosed with Post-Polio Sequelae, an oppressive fatigue that left her bed-ridden, even robbing her of her breath. At times, she was literally brought to her knees sobbing and asking God for help. Then, as Kavelin Popov writes, “Suddenly, the familiar voice of the Spirit spoke: ‘I will give you ten rules for health. Write them down and follow them.’” She followed them and, fortunately, after regaining her health, decided to share them with the world in her book A Pace of Grace.
Basic Concepts:
There is nothing in the rules that we have not heard before. However, Kavelin Popov, a co-creator of The Virtues Project and a best-selling author, has woven them together in a new way. Drawing on findings from her virtues project, A Pace of Grace combines the ten rules for health with the virtues of a sustainable life, resulting in a book that is both practical and inspirational. The “Ten Rules” are brought to life through her experiences, and the stories from the people she has encountered in workshops she gives around the world. Kavelin Popov references other authors, and experienced people she has consulted with, so we may do the same.
I found myself in tears at least once in every one of the 16 short chapters — tears of truth or tears of laughter when I recognized my own human condition and folly. In a gentle and real way, I was being led to change some things in my life and they are making a difference. While reading the book for the first time, a friend in New Zealand whom I was connecting through email with acknowledged that I seemed “more spiritual”. The changes I was feeling were confirmed.
Summary:
In A Pace of Grace, you will find how to reclaim your energy, your time and your health. A new beginning may be yours with a life of greater joy, balance and vitality.
